(Az-Zukhuruf) 43 : 17
وَإِذَا بُشِّرَ أَحَدُهُمْ بِمَا ضَرَبَ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ مَثَلًا ظَلَّ وَجْهُهُ مُسْوَدًّا وَهُوَ كَظِيمٌ
Whenever one of them is given glad tidings of what they ascribe to the Impartial, his face darkens and he becomes suppressed due to grief.
The Meccan pagans, who were the addressees of the Messenger Muhammad, were considering the Angels as the daughters of the Impartial Allah. At the same time, if any of them was informed of a female child, his face became dark due to sorrow, and he suppressed his anger, as explained in verses 16: 58-59.
